The Solar Fiesta!
The Solar Fiesta is a gathering put on by the New Mexico Solar Energy Association for green-minded people and companies. It is held every September in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Fiesta includes booths and displays from dozens of companies, and is open to the public. New Mexico Earth presents a hands-on demonstration of adobe making and building, with lots of help from volunteers! Visit www.NMSEA.org for information on the next Solar Fiesta.
Nubian Vault Workshop Stevan de la Rosa and Simone Swan work with participants on building a Nubian vault, from the engineering to the laying of bricks.The class will be in October at the Adobe Alliance in Presidio, Texas. Online Adobe Construction classes Kurt Gardella of Northern New Mexico College offers online classes on Adobe Construction and Renewable Energy. Classes start in January and August. For more information and detailed class times, visit Learn Adobe Online.
Planning Class The Southwest SolarAdobe School gives classes on planning adobe and compressed block projects. The classes cover codes, plans, permits, passive solar, and designs. Dates for upcoming classes will be posted here. For more information visit the SWSA school website.
Hands-on Adobe and Pressed Block Class The Southwest SolarAdobe School gives hands-on classes on building with adobe and compressed earthen block. The class is a great way to become familiar with the tools and methods used for building. Dates for the class will be posted here when they have been set. Hands-on Rammed Earth and Adobe Class The Southwest SolarAdobe School is giving a hands-on class on working with rammed earth and adobe. Adobe Design Class UNM's Continuing Education program offers classes on the basics of Adobe design. The class, taught by contractor Danny Martinez, covers permits, floors, wall building, solar, and other topics from designing an adobe house to putting on the finished details.
